2014

Awesome event. Still amazes me that it is free. Thanks to all those behind the scenes that help get this up and running so smoothly. For what its worth, it beats many of the more expensive events hands down!

Thanks soooo much to all the volunteers & event organisers on a fantastic day. Great run on a scenic trail. Hard to believe that it is free & well organised. Will definitely be back in 2015.

My first BRT run. It was great... I"ll be back. Such a friendly atmosphere... well done.

Thanks Brett. It was a great event and you and your crew did a fantastic job. See you next year

Thanks Brett and all the volunteers. Had such a great time out there today.

Thanks so much for organising the day & to all of the volunteers (especially all of the kids on the drinks tables).

Well done it was my first BRT but not my last - a great course, people and atmosphere. Thank you to all volunteers and especially the lady with a box of band aids at the turn around.

Great day...not ran the BRT before but loved the challenge. Thankyou for this wonderful free event and to the volunteers, fantastic effort !!

Thanks soooo much to all the volunteers & event organisers on a fantastic day. Great run on a scenic trail. Hard to believe that it is free & well organised. Will definitely be back in 2015.

Thanks you to all at BRT Run for a great event. The first time for me and furthest I have run to date at 34k. Amazing job for a volunteer event, thank you everyone.

2013

Last week was my first BRT run and I absolutely loved it - I will definately be doing it again. Very friendly crowd and the course is lovely ! Not to mention the wonderful tail wind we had ! Thanks for putting together a great local run....

Thank u for such a wonderful morning. We had a great train ride and the 4 of us set off and absolutely loved the trail. We will be back next year. 3 of us had never run 17km before, it was a challenge but the feeling at the end well worth it. Please accept our congratulations and thanks to all involved.

You should be very proud of yourself organising the event. I am an ultra marathon runner who had some clients with me for the weekend at the beach house so they could do the run as a lead up to their goal of the Melb Half. I ran it with them to assist them over the last few km's and they were so immensely proud that they made it. Their tears of joy is thanks to you!

It was so hard going out against 90K/H wind but great having wind pushing back home. Would like to say big thank you for organising run again this year and we enjoyed every step of it. Got confident for October marathon. Will look forward to next year.

Thanks Brett and your team for organising the BRT run. We are tired, sore but rapt with our effort. This run will def be marked on our running calendar for next year too!

Thanks so much for organising and to all the volunteers a big thank you. Great event! And I loved the steam train - it added so much to the day. That head wind for the first 17kms was brutal!

Thanks Brett for all your hard work! What an awesome community event. Had the best day!

Many thanks to all involved in organising the event. Enjoyed the race and will be back next year... maybe to take on the 34km!!

Thanks heaps for organising this great run. The appearance of the steam train made up for the strong headwinds.

Thanks for all the organization! Appreciate all the volunteers who stood in that freezing cold wind and helped out! Had a great time:-)

Just a quick email to say many thanks for all your work in organising the BRT run. Thoroughly enjoyed the run... even the gusty crosswinds!!

2011

What a terrific event - great location, terrific organisation - really appreciated the people manning the roads, brilliant weather and a train for better halves & kids.  This must be the best event of this type in the world.

I just wanted to congratulate and thank you for a great event last Sunday. I ran the 34kms, my first time over the distance and thought it was a fantastic event. There was a great vibe throughout the run and stacks of friendly people. Thanks again to you, the sponsors and all the volunteers for putting on a free event.

Just wanted to say a big thank you for all your hard work in organising the run on Sunday.  It amazes me how smoothly it runs - always so pleasant and easy going and I think everyone appreciates that. Had a great run, great weather, great company. Will definitely be back next year.

This is the fourth BRT run I have done and each time they are getting bigger and better. Well done again and please pass on my thanks to the volunteers for giving up their time to allow us to challenge our physical and mental capabilities!!

Just wanted to pass on my congratulations and thanks to you, the sponsors and volunteers for another great BRT run for 2011. The weather was again fantastic which helps make the run successful.

Yeap, I'd have to agree that this was a great event. Brett even managed to get the weather on his side. The track was good all the way. Very well done and a big thank you to Brett and to those who have contributed to the planning and organisation of the BRT run. I am already looking forward to next year.

Fantastic organised event once again!  I enjoyed another year of 17km of torture!! Na, only kidding, it was a wonderful morning – with a real feel of community involvement. See you next year.

Just a quick note to say a fantastic effort with last Sunday, even the weather co-operated, will definitely put this on my calendar to do list, well done to all.

Congratulations and well done to you and all your helpers in organising a very professionally run event. I will be back next year.

2010

I had a great time again on Sunday, this is my 4th year of doing the event but I think this one was the best. I wasn't quite up for the 34K so I did the 17K. I enjoyed getting my 9 year old son and I on the Tourist Train to Dysdale then my son rode back while I ran. My Son loved the ride on a very safe course the most he had ever ridden. Using the train this year was a great idea, it made it very family friendly and the views you got of the runners from the Train were brilliant.

Congratulations to you and your team for providing such an amazing experience - made all the more enjoyable as I personally had a very good run! Loved the out and back course - great opportunity to see how your friends are going. Support crew were fantastic. Nothing I would feel the need to change - please keep the same weather for next year too. Can't wait for the next one - see you in 2011.

Congratulations on organising a great event!! All I saw and heard all day were people enjoying themselves and having a great time! The train certainly added a bit of excitement ...especially for all the kids, (big and small). The weather was certainly a bonus as you mentioned a fantastic day had by all!! Well done!

Congrats Brett…..well run….beyond expectations when you are relying on volunteers,,, might just add…the volunteers where perfect, encouraging and just a great break from the endless k’s…and I have never ever been happier to see Mary and Geoff at the  finish line with a smile and the perfect end. Congrats to you and your team…

After running the BRT run on Sunday I wanted to drop you a line to thank you & congratulate you for organising such a wonderful event. My partner & I both ran the 34kms as part of our preparation for the Melbourne Marathon. We will definitely be back next year.

Just wanted to drop you a note of thanks to you and your team for organising the run below – I thought it was great! I didn’t quite manage to make the 34kms but the support shown by the other runners (especially when I was struggling) was unbelievable. Such a supportive group!

Well done on organising such a well-run event.  Had a great atmosphere, great location, and you obviously did very well with the weather!  Four of us came down from the other side of Melbourne, and all of us felt it was worth the drive down.  Well done, and looking forward to next year.

Thanks for yet another fantastic run yesterday. We had a great day and really enjoyed the run. It was so great to be able to practice with drinks etc and have so many people on the course.

Hi Brett - just wanted to say thanks for organising such a great day. It was my first time doing the BRT. I have done 2 half marathons in the past but was a bit iffy on doing it this year. But I absolutely loved yesterday and was so inspired by so many amazing runners that were participating - I came home and entered the half! I loved how informal yesterday was, but so well organised at the same time - it ran so smoothly. Thanks heaps,

I just want to say how impressed I am with this run.  It was just fantastic.  I take my hat off to you – really fantastic event and I will certainly be encouraging those that I know, to join in next year.  I can see the run going from strength to strength.

Just a quick email to thank you and everyone else involved in the organization of today´s run. Everything was impeccable. Great spirit and fantastic atmosphere. I had great fun and enjoyed the course.

Thanks for organising such a great event. I really enjoyed the 17 km run and winning a spot prize topped it off! So a big thanks to your sponsors, especially Steigen!

Great day out this morning, thanks to Brett and his helpers for putting on an excellent show once again.

Brett awesome organizing, will be back next year hopefully doing the big kids run. Thank you to you and your helpers for making a great day perfect.

Thanks Brett and crew for such a well-organized event, can't believe it's still free given the resources and facilities provided! The out-and-back course is a vast improvement, not only logistically for organizers and runners alike, but also socially - it's great being able to see everyone out on the course, and to have the opportunity to involve friends and family with the shorter run and train.

2009

I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for organising such a FANTASTIC event! The work that went in to this - the water stations, the markers, lollies even!! - just blew me away! This has definitely been the highlight of my running years, and will continue to rave about it for at least the next year - when I will get to do it all again. Great work! Thank you so much!

Another huge thank you to Brett and all the friendly volunteers who helped make this a great day out. From the bus trip, road marshalls, drink stations, jelly babies at 24km's, to the snakes & drinks at the finish - everything was so well organised. The breakfast and presentation at the end were the icing on the cake. It's hard to believe this is a fat ass event when you can pay big dollars to enter events that are nowhere near as well organised as this one. It was definitely worth getting up at 4.15am to travel down for.

Thanks so very much for organising such a fantastic run!!! I really love running the BRT and you do a brilliant job organising it. I appreciate how many hours you donate of your time to make sure everything runs super smooth on the day. Well Done!

THANK YOU for organising the training run on Sunday! I enjoyed the run very much and was very appreciative of the support that I was given! What a great way to build confidence before my first marathon. I've been doing all my long training runs alone, so it was nice to have other people around and the drink stations were fantastic! THANK YOU!!!!!

I take my hat off to Brett and the "volunteers" he roped into helping put on one of the best organised training runs I have ever had the pleasure of attending.

Just wanted to thank and congratulate you on a fantastic event! It was my first BRT and I was blown away by the wonderful volunteers who gave up their time to help out (and possibly catch the flu!). Looking forward to the Melb Mara now, thanks once again.

This was my first BRT - it was brilliant ! I had set my sights on doing my first marathon this year (Melb Marathon, Oct) and this was just the run I needed to see if I was on track.

What a great event!! A brilliantly organised run, and the weather was perfect! Thanks to Brett, and all the volunteers!

What a day for a run - awesome! Thanks to Brett and the team of volunteers and helpers. This was my first time running this and it didn't disappoint. Great organisation, great scenery, great course and great company - what more could you ask for?

Now that raises the bar for fatass organization! Thanks for a great event Brett, and all your helpers.

Just wanted to say thank you for organising a great event on Sunday – the run was exceptionally well organised, safe and a lot of fun. The breakfast afterwards and listening to Digger was also great. I look forward to taking part in it next year as well.

Just a quick note to say thank you for a great run and all the effort you put in. Really appreciate it. It is a great run and I will definitely be back next year if able. Congratulations to yourself and all the marshalls for their help and patience.

Just wanted to send you a quick note for organising the run yesterday. It was brilliant day, perfectly organised – all the volunteers that manned the road / rail crossing were terrific.

Thanks once again to you and your crew for your time and effort in putting on such a fabulous run. It was, as usual, well organised and hassle free. The volunteers were friendly and supportive and nothing was a bother for them. The 'run' is a credit to yourself, your family and friends.

Thanks for a fantastic event, with great atmosphere and superb organisation. We had a group of 7 beginner and experienced runners who all had a blast! See you next time.

We would like to say a BIG thankyou to all who helped organise yesterdays run. We were very appreciative of all those friendly people who stood in the cold waiting for us to cross roads, hand out drinks and just keep encouraging us. Having never run that far before we really needed the support! After yesterday we now are confident that we can finish the Melbourne Marathon!

I just wanted to pass on my sincerest thanks to you and all your volunteers for a wonderful run yesterday. Everything was well organised from the bus leaving on time to the ever so friendly and smiling volunteers. It was a fantastic day and you should be congratulated for your efforts in making it such a wonderful day for everyone who ran.

Just a short note to thank you and your team for the great event yesterday. I realize how much effort was put in to ensure that the day was so enjoyable, from the organizers to the marshals to the drinks station attendants. Great track, great event, great fun.

Firstly I would like to thank you and all your helpers in organising the event yesterday. I have just relocated from NSW and it was great for me to meet a community so keen in outdoor physical activities, the event has been greatly appreciated.

I just wanted to thank you for another well organised run, it really is a credit to you to keep this going. Thanks for all your hard work putting the run on today. It just seems to get bigger each year, which probably means more and more work for you. Well done on a great job.

Just wanted to congratulate you on directing such a well organised and executed event. Very relaxed atmosphere and got very lucky with the weather too!

I wanted to just reinforce how lovely today’s run was. For an orgainised non-race event it was brilliant. Beautiful views, great weather and all of your volunteers should be acknowledge for their efforts today. I have never done this run before but I will definitely be there next year.

What a pleasure to have such a well organised 'Fatass' run. Brett and helpers congratulations.

Echoing others here, I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to run this trail again. The day was fantastic due to the brilliant organisation and efforts of Brett and his cheerful volunteers. A big thank you.

My first BRT - and such a great little event - Brett and everyone else involved have done a fantastic job. Big thanks. Will definitely be back next year!

Thanks to Brett and all the volunteers for putting on a great run yesterday. It was my first, and I will be back.
For a fat-ass run, the support, organisation and commitment from everyone who volunteered was beyond anything I had expected. So thank you, and well done!

A huge thank you to Brett and anyone who gave up their Sunday to assist in the seamless running of today. It was my first BRT and I was mighty impressed.

2008

What a fantastic event! Not only does it not cost anything to enter but I managed to win a pair Skins in the raffle and I hardly ever win anything in raffles! And the weather was fantastic. What more can you ask for? Thanks to Brett and his merry band of helpers. I would have to say that this has been my favourite event so far this year.

The more I ran and listened to others yesterday, the more I appreciated the fantastic work you and your helpers do to make the BRT Run such an enjoyable experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and wish to thank you and all your volunteers for their fabulous efforts. The drink stations were great and a special thanks to the team on the road crossings. It was great to have the 5 km markers too to give some idea on how you were going.

Thanks for the run Brett-a great day! Troopy's talk at breakfast was great. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was impressed he'd given up some of his time to join us. Good luck on the 24th Troopy.

This was one of my more enjoyable events to date. I loved the relaxed atmosphere, the course was good, the aid stations and marshals were excellent. Thanks Brett for all your hard work. To anyone who hasn't done this run remember it for next year. I'll be there!

How good is this run? Free entry......and a substantial degree of manpower is obviously required. The welcoming aid stations and all those smiling faces manning the road crossings. Well, it just doesn't get any better!

I'd like to thank you so much for organising such a wonderful day. There was a real buzz around the car park at the start. I ran 98% of the run alone, however having the 'red flagged ladies' strategically positioned along the track kept me in good company. They all had smiles on their faces giving positive feedback the whole way. It was a truly memorable day, and was a good reminder why I love running so much. I hope to make it back next year. Many thanks again Brett, to yourself and also to everyone involved.

What an awesome day! And the organisation - Brett, you rock! So do all your helpers! Thanks for all your organisation.

Thanks for organising this wonderful run, Brett. Good on Troopy for letting us entertain the idea that we can keep up with him. And good luck in Beijing! Great track too. The view coming in to Queenscliff was a great distraction from burning calves. And it was nice to have some downhill after 20-odd ks of flats and climbs. I'll definitely be participating again next year.

Great stuff! Fantastic work on organising a great run on a great day. I'll definitely be back next year. Also, a massive Thank You to the marshals on the roads and the people at the drink stations, and everyone else on the day.

The run went well for me, it was a great day. Thanks to you and all the others involved for organizing it again this year!

Thanks for all the hard work you put in to make yesterday's run such a success. It was good to catch up with so many of the other runners, many of which are looking to do Melbourne this year (as I am ). Once again, thank you (and your friends/family) for all the hard work.

What a great day and a great run/course. Thanks for all your effort and that of your merry band of helpers, and next time, I might have time to stay for breakfast.

Brett you do a superb job, thank you so, so much for your brilliant organisation and fantastic volunteers, its a beautiful run indeed. Troopy's talk was fantastic I could have listened to him for hours, he's awesome.

Thanks again for a great run, you do a fantastic job organising the event, thanks also to all your helpers who give their time to keep us all safe.

Big thanks to Brett, and his merry band of friendly volunteers/marshals - hard to believe such a well organised event is free!

Thanks to Brett and all his helpers today, it was a great effort, and a wonderfully run event.

2007

Fantastic run yet again (second year that I have done this ) - thank you so much to Brett for organising it, and many thanks to the volunteers who make it such a pleasant easy run to do (it is good to be warned that there are cars approaching *fast* when you are a bit tired). This is now a permanent fixture in my run calendar. Hope to see you all again there next year.

Thanks for organising this. It is a great run and a perfect lead in training run for an event like the Melbourne marathon for those that are doing it. The lollies along the way along with the drinks and biscuits at the end were most appreciated and unexpected. The marshals and support crew also did a great job to make the day safe for all.

Thanks Brett for the opportunity to run in your event again this year. Thoroughly enjoyed it and the km's just fly when you run with a group. Your rail trail run is more professional than a lot of races that I've participated in over the years and all the extras that you provide make it safe, enjoyable and rewarding.

Just thought I'd drop you a line to thank you very much for organising the run on Sunday. You are very lucky to have such a fabulous track in the Bellarine area and your council (and possibly others) are to be commended for the way it is maintained. The organisation of the event was fantastic and I certainly appreciated the way your team waited for everyone to pass through checkpoints and to finish. My children got a buzz out of the day and my 9yr old who rode with me is already talking about doing it again next year!. It was a great example of how a family can exercise and stay healthy together. Thanks again to you and your team.

Thank-you so much for organising the BRT run on the weekend! The course was magnificent and the organisation was excellent. Well done to yourself and the many volunteers. Thank-you again. We look forward to running it again next year!

A great run, great people and a 'train' that arrived 2 minutes early at the end - got to be happy about that.... A big thanks to Brett and his band of helpers - they did a great job again. This is one of my favourite non racing runs - make the effort to get down there everyone.

That was a great run again, great atmosphere, well organised, but still with the feeling that you are just running by yourself through open countryside. If all goes well, I hope to do it again next year and bring some more friends.

Thanks Brett, first time over the course and really enjoyed it. Drinks, bus, etc all worked like a charm. Your efforts are appreciated.

Hi, I Just wanted to say a big thank you for a well organised event. My friends and I enjoyed it immensely. The rail trail was great, the support at stations was terrific, and the communication was quick and helpful. Will definitely check out the photos!

Just wanted to pass on my congratulations and thanks for providing such a well organised run today. Please pass on my appreciation to all the volunteers who manned the road crossings and drink stations and to your family and friends who helped on the day.

Big thanks to Brett and all the volunteers for organising a great event. It was one of the best organised runs I've been to. The day itself was great. Big turnout of people and a nice pack for the 5min/k pelethon. Thanks for the great company everyone!

Special thanks to Brett and all the helpers, no fees involved in this event and these people just organise, supervise and encourage for the love of running.

2006

Thank you so much for all the organisation - that was a marvellous run, possibly the nicest run I have ever done. The people were friendly and helpful, the course was easy to follow (very important for me as I have no sense of direction) and the trail was great.

As I sit with 4 or 5 beers under my belt I can't stop thinking about what a great day I had today. Well done with all the organisation, from my point of view it couldn't have gone smoother.

Just wanted to say thank you for organising todays run. The preparation and work that went into it would have been enormous, and the work that you and your volunteers put in was greatly appreciated by everyone.

Just wanted to say thanks for putting on such a fantastic event today. You and your army of volunteers did a great job. I really enjoyed the day and will definitely be back again next year.”

A big thank you to you and your team of helpers for organising and running this event. This was my first time and while I personally struggled towards the end - finished at around 2:57 I think - I enjoyed the experience. The level of organisation was exceptional and the atmosphere and friendliness was great.

Thanks very much for having the opportunity to run the BRT again this year. Both of you and your family and friends put in a lot of time and effort and did a fantastic job in getting the run organised. The day was suberb with plenty of support and photos being taken. Once again myself and my running friends are very greatful and appreciative of your efforts.

Well done on a bloody marvellous effort. You have done a great job and if you ever decided to go into event management, I am sure you have all the core ingredients to succeed.

Firstly i must say congratulations on an excellent event. The warm personal atmosphere of the run made it one of the best I have done. The personal satisfaction I got was awesome. It was the longest I have run and the encouragement i received through out was great. I am now confident of reaching my goal in the Melbourne Marathon, so thanks again for the event.

Thanks to Brett and his crew for organising a great day …. It was a fantastic day and certainty a great training run for Melbourne Marathon 2006.

What a great day, and what a magnificent job of organising by Brett, Emma and the other helpers - sorry I don't know all your names. Thanks for not letting me get run over by cars; and thanks for ever for the lollies!

Brett, you put on a perfect training run! Many many thanks to you and your wonderful family and friends for such a great morning!

2005

Well, that was certainly worth it... a fatass run that would put many "official" runs to shame. Well done Brett and to everyone who helped out, the organization and facilities were brilliant... separate vehicles and labelling at the start for each of the drink stops, tables with drinks and goodies every 8k with a bin well down the track for empties and rubbish, 5k markers along the way, food and drink at the end and on the bus.... it was all so smooth. And the weather! - expected the worst but it was ideal. Some rain came just as we were getting on the bus to go back to Geelong, but it cleared again so hopefully stayed dry for those running back.

Brett & crew, thankyou for providing such a simple concept that with a bit of effort gave such big rewards and enjoyment to everyone that entered. I used this event to help me make up my mind about doing the MM this year as I haven't run in or trained more than a half marathon for more than 2 years and can't understand why so many more did not take up the training opportunity supplied to them for a maximum outlay of $5!!

Brett I'd just like to add my thanks to you, and the other helpers, for organising yesterday's run. It was all so well done and such good fun. On that course and just a few weeks before the Melb Marathon, it is sure to grow even further as an event - I'll certainly be recommending it to people. And speaking as someone who was always going to be right near the back of the field, even before some injuries cut in at the 25k mark, it was great to be lining up at the start line with a group like that!

Must add my thanks as well to Brett and family and friends for the terrific organisation and smooth running of this great trail run. You have a top formula in this event: good timing for MM build up, great trail under foot, loads of friendly runners to chat with and half the way with sun and tail wind! I'm sure when the word gets out you'll have a huge crowd for future events. Once again thanks and well done to all the smiling faces out on the trail. Keep trying the trail running folks its addictive and a lot softer on the feet!

I would also like to thank Brett and his team of helpers your skills in organising a training run such as this was fantastic, definately an event i will put onto the calendar for future years .

I'd just like to say a big thanks to Brett and all of the other volunteers for putting together such a well organised event. It was a true 'fun-run'.
